We were tasked to work with a newly formed subsidiary of a Canadian multinational to implement the complete fit-out and supply of all IT systems and infrastructure to a new build installation. We needed to adhere strictly to the parent companies’ policies and standards and to work with the operations director, the fit-out company as well as security and other stakeholders. A large part of the workforce was both office and home/remote working.
We designed the infrastructure, network cabling requirements as well as specifying the computer room and cooling requirements. It was agreed that IT management and security would use Azure and Intune with file storage using Teams and SharePoint. Microsoft 365 was selected to provide messaging and general collaboration.
A fully redundant network was installed with High Availability switches and Firewalls. 4G failover internet was implemented to supplement the main internet feed which has a 99.99% availability SLA. The computer room cooling consisted of a pair of independent inverter units and UPS autonomy was provided for all core systems.
The on-premises server provided replicated local data as well as a data store for the highly sophisticated HD video surveillance and security systems.
Other parts of our implementation included; the supply and implementation of Laptops for all staff, a cloud-hosted VoIP phone system with Soft Phones installed on all laptops as well as AV and Presentation equipment for meeting rooms.
It was important that the client could demonstrate the security of the building, network, and system very early on in the implementation process. We, therefore, needed to work closely with the security provider, the regulatory body providing the certifications required as well as the client’s implementation team.
